Quadra Island Foundation (QIF) is offering support in developing potential projects and the process of applying for Community Service Recovery funding. These COVID Recovery grants are available in three streams: systems & processes, people and programs. Funding on Quadra is specifically related to systems, processes and expanding organizational capacity. Quadra organizations can apply to any one of the three streams and should choose the most appropriate stream based on the results of a pre-screening questionnaire.
Organizations are welcome to discuss their ideas with the coordinator in advance of completing their funding application. Sarah Deagle, grant coordinator, can be reached at grants@quadraislandfoundation.ca. These discussions could result in assistance with developing an idea or coordination with other Quadra organizations, as appropriate.
Additionally, drop-in application workshops will be held at the Quadra Island Community Centre. Applicants are welcome to bring their laptop computers along with their questions. Sessions are scheduled for:
- Sunday, Feb. 5 (2 to 3pm) and
- Saturday, Feb. 11 (1 to 3pm), during the Community Connections and Volunteer Fair.
The second, general information session is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8 at 7pm, also at the Quadra Community Centre. Pre-registration is not required for either the application workshops or the information session.
“We’re encouraging all local community service organizations to consider applying for this funding based on their organizational needs in response to the impacts of COVID,” says QIF’s volunteer board chair Michael Mascall. The systems and processes stream, in particular, will support organizations on Quadra to update and adapt.”
The funding available through Quadra Island Foundation is part of a $400 million Government of Canada investment in a national COVID recovery fund to support charities, non-profits and Indigenous Governing Bodies. Quadra Island Foundation is working with the Community Foundations of Canada, Canadian Red Cross, and United Way to distribute funding.
Community groups must apply for funding by 5pm PST on Tuesday, February 21 and complete the funded projects by the end of June 2024. Online applications opened January 6 and can be accessed through the Quadra Island Foundation website at www.quadraislandfoundation.ca.
Please send questions about this opportunity by email to QIF’s grant coordinator, Sarah Deagle, at grants@quadraislandfoundation.ca.
