On Friday, June 13, 2025, a second Coffee Chat took place at Aroma, bringing together local organizers from Quadra Circle, the Chamber of Commerce, ICAN, the Gardening Club, Quadra Literacy, the Rec Society, and the Quadra Island Foundation.
The conversation highlighted a shared need across our organizations:
- Aging volunteer base and the importance of engaging younger community members
- A lack of coordination leading to overlapping efforts
- The need for training, tech support, and shared infrastructure (like an online platform)
- Interest in celebrating volunteer efforts and improving communication
Key ideas included the creation of a Volunteer Coordinator role, opportunities for joint fundraising, coordination, communication and the potential for a Volunteer Appreciation Party.
Next steps:
- A grant writing meeting is being planned to explore funding opportunities
- A follow-up email will go out to local groups to invite broader involvement
- Plans for a Volunteer Appreciation event will be discussed at the next meeting
Thanks to all who joined. It’s clear there’s strong energy and willingness to work together. Let’s keep it going!
