The Quadra Island Foundation (QIF) exists to help Quadra Island thrive – culturally, socially and environmentally. It was established as a public, charitable foundation to support a more resilient and self-reliant community and works to help preserve and enhance the unique qualities of Quadra through grant funding and building community capacity. QIF was incorporated under the BC Societies Act on August 18th, 2020, and received charitable status on March 3rd, 2021. Also in 2021, QIF became a member of the Community Foundations of Canada, the umbrella organization of almost 200 community foundations across Canada.
Program Overview:
The Quadra Island Foundation is seeking applications from individuals for a part-time contract position to manage the distribution of the Community Prosperity Fund (CPF) for Quadra Island. The Community Prosperity Fund is a program that invests in community organizations working on poverty reduction and social inclusion. The program is set to launch in the spring of 2024 and will provide multi-year operational grants for qualified and non-qualified donees (e.g. not-for-profit and charitable organizations) addressing poverty reduction and social inclusion.
This posting is to recruit a part-time contracted Coordinator that would oversee program implementation during the Spring of 2024 over a four month period. The contract will be for up to 15 hours/week with the weekly time commitment reducing as the contract progresses. Contractors will be required to work from home and utilize their own computers.
Program Goals:
Quadra Island is fortunate to have several not-for-profit and charitable organizations working to address social and poverty issues on Quadra. The goals of the CPF granting program include:
- Provide appropriate Quadra Island qualified and non-qualified donees an opportunity to access CPF grant funding.
- Develop a program that is delivered in alignment with CPF granting policies and protocols.
- Develop a program that is transparent, inclusive, accountable and is beneficial to Quadra residents.
Scope of Work:
- Market and communicate the CPF program to Quadra.
- Provide consultation support to interested applicants that increases their likelihood of implementation success.
- Facilitating collaboration opportunities between community organizations as requested.
- Create and oversee a CPF Committee of community members that will support the selection of funded projects. (Note: Recommendations from the CPF Committee will go forward to the QIF Board for final approval.)
- Provide regular updates on program progress to the QIF Board as required.
- Collate, review, and recommend for approval community organization funding applications.
- Manage the day-to-day activities associated with disbursing funds to successful applicants.
- Complete all necessary CPF grant disbursement reporting and communicate successful applicants to Quadra to ensure program transparency and accountability.
- Complete a final report to QIF Board outlining lessons learned and recommendations for ongoing program implementation.

- Professional resume outlining competencies and experience;
- Two professional references and their contact information;
- 2 previous work examples that demonstrate transferable competencies relevant for this project;
- Numeration expectations; and,
- Any limitations that may exist related to work availability.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Competencies: Demonstrated competencies in at least three of the following competencies: grant management, project management, financial literacy, and report writing.
- Community Awareness: Familiarity with life on Quadra Island and/or the Discovery Islands.
- Budget: Numeration expectations.
- Availability: Verification that the work can be completed within required program timelines.
- Experience: Demonstratable project experience with similar community programs/projects.
