WE DID IT, QUADRA ISLAND!
We are absolutely impressed by the generosity, community spirit, and heart of Quadra Islanders.
When the Quadra Island Health Society approached the Quadra Island Foundation to undertake a $50,000 fundraising campaign to support the recruitment of a Medical/Family Practice Doctor to our island, we anticipated that it might take several months to accumulate such a large sum.
In less than TWO WEEKS, Quadra Island didn’t just meet the goal; you surpassed it.
This is what ‘community’ looks like.
So what are the next steps?
The recruiter is already hard at work, actively searching for a physician who will be the right fit for our community. We want to be transparent: recruiting a doctor to a rural island community is a significant challenge. The process is complex, competitive, and takes time. We at the Foundation, thank you for your generosity. Due to all those who stepped up so generously, the resources are now in place to pursue the goal of attracting a new Family Practitioner to our community.
Meanwhile, the Quadra Island Health Society is leaving no stone unturned, exploring every available avenue and creative option to keep the Quadra Island Medical Clinic open and serving our community throughout this process.
The Quadra Island Foundation is committed to ensuring that every dollar raised is invested wisely, transparently, and with the sole purpose of securing lasting healthcare for the people of Quadra Island. Charitable receipts will be in the mail by the end of the year!
