Budget Recommendations for BC

Jun 6, 2025

Each year, the Government of BC invites public input on the provincial budget. Submissions are reviewed by the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, which reports to the Legislature by November 15.

Why It Matters
Across BC, communities are under pressure—from rising costs and climate-related challenges to growing social needs. Non-profits are stepping up but are stretched thin. Local solutions work—but they need reliable support.

Our 2025 Recommendations

  1. Renew the Community Prosperity Fund
We call for a $25 million reinvestment in this proven initiative. In 2023, it funded over 450 non-profits across BC—supporting food security, housing, mental health, and more. Local foundations are ready to keep delivering where it counts most.
  2. Strengthen the Non-Profit Sector
Non-profits face rising demand, financial strain, and workforce shortages. We recommend:
  • Multi-year funding with inflation protection
  • Higher admin caps to sustain core operations

These changes will help organizations plan ahead, retain skilled staff, and keep vital services running in communities across the province.
