Quadra Island Foundation’s Board recently approved recommendations of $5,420 for 13 Neighbourhood Small Grant (NSG) projects on Quadra, which marks the foundation’s second round of granting this year. The Community Services Recovery Fund (CSRF) was the first funding to our Quadra Island community in 2023. Thanks to the volunteer Grants committee who reviewed and made recommendations on the NSG applications submitted.
Funded projects include a “make & take” herbal medicine workshop, materials and funds for attending pottery drop in nights, emergency power for disaster readiness and safety buoys for Quadra Island Open Water Swimmers (see photo), to name a few. Successful applicants were awarded $500 or less. Click here for a complete list of funded projects.
Projects funded with Neighbourhood Small Grant money must be free to attend and accessible and welcoming to all. The projects are meant to be grass roots and all applicants are residents of Quadra Island. Experience has show that magic happens when neighbours connect, and those connections are what these grants are to support.
Quadra Island Foundation delivered the recent Neighbourhood Small Grants program with support from the Campbell River Foundation, Vancouver Foundation and the Vancouver Island network. Previously, interested Quadra residents participated in the Campbell River Neighbourhood Small Grants program.
Quadra Island Foundation, its Board members and volunteers live on the traditional unceded territories and ancestral lands of the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, Klahoose, Homalco, Kwiakah, Tlowitsis, & K’omoks peoples.
