Quadra Island Foundation

We are a public, charitable foundation established to support a more resilient and self-reliant community.

A key part of the foundation’s work is collaborating with groups and individuals to encourage donations (often through wills and estates) as part of a permanent fund. Income generated from ethically-sourced investments is distributed as grants to eligible charities and activities to enhance community quality of life and to protect our natural environment.

As a registered charity, the foundation provides tax receipts for donations.

The local all-volunteer board of directors and community-based grant committee engages community members to identify local needs and to inspire generosity to meet those needs. The grants committee reviews funding applications and advises the board on how best to support community projects.

Granting

Quadra Island Foundation grants support a wide range of community initiatives and local charitable organizations to make our community an even better place to live.

From funding for community health and affordable housing to environmental protection, education, agriculture, the arts, culture and heritage, recreation, community safety and more, our grants benefit Quadra Islanders by helping to create a more vibrant, resilient and thriving community.

Community Involvement

In its first year, Quadra Island Foundation raised approximately $33,000. Our volunteer board is now working to build a permanent endowment fund that will provide grants for future projects to help Quadra Island continue to thrive.

Community members are welcome to discuss opportunities to become foundation members, serve on committees, volunteer for the organization, and encourage other members of the community to get involved and support the Quadra Island Foundation.
